Our Intramural Sports Program offers you the chance to take part in both indoor and outdoor sports. The great thing about our programs, is that all our activities are planned and orgnized by YOU, the students! The Champlain Sports Council takes control of our Intramurals and plans and corrdinates everything from registration, to scheduling, to stats and results. We’re always looking for people to help us out, so if you’re interested, stop in and see Scott O’Brien F-130 in Athletics.
All Intramural league games are played on Wednesdays during the Acitivty Period and there is no charge. You just have to be a Champlain student or staff member to play. You can register as a team or as a single player, in which case you’ll be placed on a team. Remember, all teams are co-ed! Leagues run from 3 to 7 weeks, depending on registrations and numbers, and champions are forever immortalized when they receive their coveted intramural championship t-shirt!
Three times a semester, we hold Midnight Madness Tournaments on Friday nights. These tournaments usually begin at 6:30 PM and conclude around 11:30 PM and are followed by pizza and drinks for all. The cost of the Midnight Madness tournaments is $10 – $15 a person, depending on the sport. Again, winners receive a championship t-shirt.
The Intramural season wraps up with the McGill Fest. McGill Fest is McGill University’s annual Intramural Festival that takes place in early April. Started almost 25 years ago, this one-evening tournament sees intramural teams from Champlain, John Abbott, Dawson, Heritage, Marianopolos and Vanier compete in a number of different sports. In the past, some of the sports that have been played are: men’s basketball, women’s basketball, co-ed volleyball, badminton, co-ed indoor soccer, dodgeball, inner tube waterpolo and cooperative games. Stay tuned! We’ll be looking for players as we move further into the year!
So here’s your chance to get invovled and have some fun! Stay active and get busy!
